For more than 30 years, Kurt has taught middle school history, geography, and English, with special areas of interest including 20th-century U.S. and world history. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University (Phi Beta Kappa, 1992) and a Master of Education from National-Louis University. In addition to his role as an educator, Kurt has also served as a coach and mentor in track and field. When not teaching, Kurt enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, reading, and spending time with his wife and three kids. As a member of the Shelter Academy team, Kurt believes that every child can contribute to the world and prosper through education and that every child should be afforded such an opportunity.
