Raise awareness

You can also support us by hosting or participating in impactful initiatives. An easy way to raise awareness is by running a “Long Walk to School” event, inspired by SAL co-founder Grace Sakwa’s four-mile walk to school each day. A community walking event can raise awareness by having participants walk or run a similar distance, bringing your community together while highlighting Ugandan children’s challenges in accessing education.  

Volunteer

Shelter Academy of Light warmly welcomes individuals eager to volunteer in any capacity. Whether you’re interested in coordinating a school supply drive, contributing to community events, or assisting with a specific program or initiative, your support is invaluable.
