Juliet Skuldt and her husband, Dean, raised their two grown daughters in Arlington Heights, Illinois. With a background in editing and publishing, Juliet previously worked at the University of Wisconsin Press. With an MFA in Creative Writing and Literary Editing and Design from Eastern Washington University, she has worked, volunteered, and taught in a variety of settings, including starting an after-school arts club for elementary school children, teaching college composition and creative writing, assisting with summer clubs for refugee kids, and continuing to write freelance. Her commitment to human rights has seen her involved with a number of non-profit organizations, and ultimately led her to found Christian Advocacy Now, a ministry devoted to helping the local church become informed, active, and prayerful around issues of human rights abuses and religious persecution. The opportunity to lean into the efforts of Shelter Academy of Light in bringing high-quality education and opportunities to children in Bubutu, Uganda, is a perfect combining of her deeply held values of learning, of the protection of human rights, and most important, of sharing the light and love of Christ through word and deed.
